Battle Lake hosted Rothsay in a Section 6A pigtail game on Monday night with the Battlers prevailing in the grueling 5 set match, 25-16, 28-30, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9. “I'm excited we were able to come together as a team to beat a much improved Rothsay Tigers team,” stated Battle Lake Assistant Coach Heather Akerman. “Again, the fans were a big part of our win as the energy in the gym was amazing!”
Kenady Cameron led the attack with 18 kills, one solo block and 10 block assists. Kailie Robinson added 9 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks, and Kinley Bormann contributed 8 kills and a solo block. Sophie Akerman distributed 28 set assists.
Serving leaders were Molly Durbin (32/33), Sophie Akerman (11/12, 1 ace), Olivia Love (10/11, 1 ace), Kenady Cameron (11/14, 2 aces), Kailie Robinson (16/19, 3 aces) and Kinley Bormann (18/22, 1 ace).
Defensive leaders were Akerman (17 digs), Durbin (14 digs), Danica Byrne (13 digs), Cameron (10 digs) and Love (9 digs).
Battle Lake (8-16) will now face top-seeded Breckenridge on Wednesday night.
