Ottertail Central lost their first game on Thursday, falling to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, 5-3, but bounced back in an elimination game against Barnesville, recording a 19-9 come from behind victory to advance to a Monday game against Roseau at 2:00pm in Perham.  With 19 wins on the season the Bulldogs have clinched the all-time winningest season in OTC history.  They will need to win two games Monday to make it to Tuesday play in the Section 8AA Tournament.

In the loss to DGF, the Rebels put two runs across the plate in the top of the fourth inning.  Grant Anderson delivered a one-out double, Owen Hoover walked and a sacrifice fly by Kolton Wagner brought home Anderson with the first run.  Hoover scored the second run on a wild pitch.  In the bottom of the fourth, Jayden Harig started the inning with a base hit and moved to second base on Eric Fick’s sacrifice bunt.  Noah Link drew a walk and Kale Misegades came through with a 2-run triple to left field to knot the score at 2-2.  A two-out rally by DGF in the fifth put the Rebels in front for good.  Landon Johnson was hit by a pitch and stole second base.  He scored on a single by Jordan Summers.  Summers then scored on an error.  OTC cut the lead to 4-3 when Lane Dilly reached on a two-out walk and scored from first base on a double off the center field fence by Harig.  DGF scored an insurance run on a RBI triple from Grant Anderson with two outs in the seventh inning.

Austin Anderson (6IP, 3K, 5BB, 5H, 3ER) was the winning pitcher for DGF and Grant Anderson struck out three batters in the seventh to earn the save.  Gavin Pausch took the loss for OTC, surrendering four runs on three hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one batter.

“Gavin threw well,” said Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “He did a great job mixing pitches and timing, and Noah Link came on in relief and helped keep us in striking range.  We just got outside of ourselves and gave up a lot of bases in this game.  I loved to see the fight in the guys, we just gave a good ball team too much to work with by giving them extra bases.”

Ottertail Central fell behind the Barnesville Trojans 9-1 in game two of the day.  The Trojans sent 14 batters to the plate in a nine-run second inning.  OTC battle back, scoring 6 times in the bottom of the second to cut the Trojans lead to 9-7.  OTC then scored ten runs in the fourth inning to take control, leading 17-9.  A pair of unearned runs in the fifth ended the game by the ten-run rule.  Owen Harig was outstanding in relief, pitching 3 innings of scoreless ball, striking out four, walking one and allowing only one hit.  Lane Dilly went 2-for-4 at the plate, with five runs batted in to lead the offensive attack.

Barnesville collected eight hits, led by Quincy Morey with a single and a double in 3 at bats, and Joey Torfin with a pair of singles in three trips to the plate.

“Hendrickson commented, “This was wild, we found ourselves in a 9-1 deficit and things were not looking good for a bit.  We were able to use our bats to claw back into the game by scoring 6 in the 2nd inning, but then we had an offensive explosion, putting up ten in the fourth.  It was absolutely amazing to watch the Bulldogs in action in this game!”
