The Fergus Falls Hurricanes traveled to Detroit Lakes on Wednesday night where they picked up a 16-5 victory over the Ligers (combination of a Lion and a Tiger).  The Canes collected 20 hits in the contest and scored 16 runs despite stranding 16 runners on base.  Alex Hexum (5IP, 6K, 6BB, 5H, 4ER) was the winning pitcher.  “The Canes really swung the bats well, with every starter getting at least one hit and seven players collecting at least one RBI,” stated Manager Davy Johnson.

A two-out first inning double by Tosten Mann led to the first run of the game when Mann scored on an infield error.  A 4-run third inning gave Fergus Falls a 5-0 lead.  RBI singles by Pete Gaustad, Alex Hensch and Carter Thielke, and a RBI double by Owen Krueger keyed the inning.  DL pulled to within a run by plating four runs of their own in the bottom of the third.  RBI singles by Zach Oistad and Tristan Wimmer and RBI walks from Trevor Tappe and Joey Price brought home the runs.  The Canes scored 3 times in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of 3 Liger errors and a RBI single from Hexum. In the sixth, singles by Austin Stanislawski, Alex Hensch and Tosten Mann increased the Canes lead to 9-4.  The Ligers scored a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 9-5.  Fergus Falls added 3 runs in the eighth and four in the ninth.  A Tosten Mann 3-run homer led to the eighth inning tally and in the ninth, Austin Stanislawski led off with a double and scored on a one-out double by Hensch.  Hensch later scored on a wild pitch.  Carter Thielke was hit by a pitch and scored ahead of Darin Stanislawski on his 2-run home run.

The Canes were led by Hensch (3-5, 2B, SB, 2R, 2RBI), Mann (3-7, 2B, HR, 2R, 4RBI), Darin Stanislawski (3-5, HR, 2R, 2RBI) and Austin Stanislawski (3-5, 2B, 3R).

Brady Swiers (1-2, 2B, 2R, 2BB) led DL at the plate.

The Canes will host the Breckenridge Bucks at 1:30pm Sunday at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.
