Zierden and Jensen Qualify for State, Tuel and Muchow Earn Medals

The Fergus Falls boys’ track and field team traveled to Cold Spring on Wednesday to compete in Day 1 of the Section 8AA meet.  Most of the day was full of preliminary races.  A few field events were final for a state qualifier as was the 3200 meter run.  Shane Zierden placed first in the triple jump and Alex Jensen won the shot put.  Both have earned a trip to the AA State Meet with their performances on Wednesday.  Matthew Tuel placed sixth in the 3200 and Andrew Muchow was eighth in the pole vault.

The following boys’ have qualified for the finals in their events on Saturday in Detroit Lakes.  Shane Zierden in the 110 hurdles, and Jaden Miller and David Ronnevik in the 800 meter run.

“The competition will continue Saturday in DL with all relays and the final heats for the top 8 qualifiers in their respective races,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Derek Meyer.  “Boys discus, long jump and high jump finals will also be held.  We had a great day of results today and will look to add to that success.”
