Warriors Remain Unbeaten in 6A Softball Playoffs with Pair of Wins

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross remained unbeaten in Section 6A softball playoff action with a pair of wins on Thursday.  The Warriors started the day with a 12-6 win over Rothsay and added an 8-5 victory over Lake Park-Audubon.

Against the Tigers, Hadley Berger (2-3, 2RBI, 3R), Jordyn Perry (2-3, 3R), Addison Blume (1-2, 2RBI, 2BB, R), Sadie Vipond (2-4, RBI, R), Emily Drewicke (2-4, 2B, R) and Megyn Kelly (1-3, RBI, R, BB) led the Warriors at the plate.  Anna Bright (7IP, 6H, 6R, 4ER, 4BB, 7K) earned the victory in the circle.

Rothsay was led by Madison Tillman (1-4, 2RBI), Bethany Danielson (1-3, R), Kinsey Heier (1-3, R), Lauren Reber (1-3, BB, R) and Elli Meyer (1-4, R).

The Warriors took a 5-0 lead in the second, however, Rothsay tied the game with 5 in the top of the third.  Wheaton/Herman-Norcross regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring 3 times.  The Warriors added 3 more in the fourth, after Rothsay had scored on in the top of the inning.  Wheaton/Herman-Norcross collected 10 hits and took advantage of 8 Rothsay errors.

In their win over Lake Park-Audubon, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had 8 hits and again capitalized on 8 errors.  Trailing 4-3 after 3 innings, the Warriors scored 3 in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead.  LPA cut the lead to 6-5 with a run in the top of the fifth, but, WHN pushed across two in the bottom of the inning.

Anna Bright (7IPm 10H, 5R, 3ER, 0BB, 2K) fired a complete game to earn the victory.  Hitting leaders were Vipond (2-3, 2RBI, 2R), Berger (1-2, 3R, SB), Kelly (1-4, SB, 2RBI), Jadyn Kellen (1-3, RBI, R) and Makayla Bertram (1-3, RBI R).

The Warriors will face Upsala on Tuesday as the two remaining unbeaten teams in Section 6A.
