Grayson Grove scored 20 points, completed a double-double with 10 rebounds, blocked two shots and dished out 5 assists to lead the Alexandria Cardinals to a 62-57 win over fourth-seeded Mankato East in the quarterfinal round of the Class AAA Boys State Basketball Tournament at Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Chase Thompson was also in double figures with 15 points. Jaxon Schoenrock and Bralyn Steffensmeier added 9 points apiece. Schoenrock also had 5 assists and 5 steals. Alexandria shot 45% (22-49) for the game.
Brogan Madson and Ganden Gosch led Mankato East with 16 and 10 points, respectively. Gosch had 5 assists, 5 steals and 5 rebounds.
Alexandria will now face top-seeded Totino-Grace at noon on Thursday in the semifinals at Target Center.
