Yellowjackets Fall to Albany in Class A State Quarterfinals

The Albany Huskies improved their season record to 29-1 with a 51-38 win over Perham in the quarterfinal round of the Class AA Girls’ State Basketball Tournament on Wednesday at Maturi Pavilion on the campus of the University of Minnesota.  Albany led 26-18 at the half and scored 22 of their points of 18 Perham turnovers.

Alyssa Sand (14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists), Kylan Gerads (14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists) and Tatum Findley (11 points) led the Huskies in the victory.  They shot 41% (19-46) from the field and hit 11-of-13 (84.6%) free throws.

Perham was led by Willow Thiel with 18 points and 6 rebounds.  Mya Morris scored 15 points on 5 3-pointers, and pulled down 7 rebounds.  Olivia Pilgrim had a team high 4 assists.  Perham shots just 30% (12-40) from the field.

Perham (26-4) will now face Crosby-Ironton (23-8) in the consolation semifinals at 8:00m Thursday at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia College in St. Paul.
