The Hawley Nuggets kept their season alive with an impressive 74-54 win over Wadena-Deer Creek in the Section 8AA quarterfinals on Monday night in Hawley.  Sam Senske scored a game high 26 points to lead the way for the Nuggets, as they improved their season record to 17-9.

“Offensively, I loved the way that we moved the ball tonight,” said Head Coach Nathan Stoa of Hawley. “We shared it well and because of it we found easy baskets.  We also did a great job on the offensive boards.  Noah Nelson, Sam Senske, Mason Gratton, and Derek Tibbetts did a phenomenal job on the boards both ways.  Defensively, we still need to avoid lulls in our communication, and therefore with our discipline, but we had good energy all night.”

Gratton added 14 points and Brevin Stoa was also in double digits with 10.  Hawley will now play the number one seed, Thief River Falls, at 6:00pm Wednesday in Detroit Lakes.

Teshe Loer led Wadena-Deer Creek with 19 points and Peyton Church added 15 for the Wolverines.

Wadena-Deer Creek ends their season with a record of 20 wins and 8 losses.
