The Breckenridge boys' basketball team hosted New York Mills in a Section 6A playin game on Monday night and the Cowboys gained control of the game early as they build a 52-19 halftime lead on the way to a 79-47 victory.
Landon Blaufuss scored 16 points, while adding 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Daymon Smith added 17 points and Alex Sanchez finished with 12. Dylan Bernotas and Jacob Kunkel chipped in with 9 points each.
"It was a great team win for the Cowboys tonight," said Head Coach Jordan Christensen. "Our defense in the first half was exactly what we needed. Cowboy fans were awesome tonight, it was a great atmosphere! Then in the second half Daymon Smith tied the single season record for 3 pointers. It was a great night for Cowboy Basketball."
Breckenridge now has a date with second-seeded Battle Lake on the Battlers home floor Thursday night.
