“It was good to get back and play right away after a tough one last night,” stated Barnesville Head Coach Matt Askegaard. “This morning we had Team Up with the Trojans where we had over 80 boys in grades K-2 in for skills, drills, contests and of course donuts for 3 hours this morning.  I told the boys that life goes on. You may wake up the next morning after a tough day/night and not want to go about your day, but today we had to and it was all good vibes. Having the opportunity to work with the young people in our program by putting a smile not just on our own faces, but more importantly the elementary kids. Then we were able to hop on the bus and go compete again.”

Barnesville shot 54% (25-46) from the field and won the battle of the boards, 31-23, while holding Frazee to 35% (16-45) shooting.

Gannon Bolgrean led the Trojans with 26 points and 4 assists.  Tate Inniger registered a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Carson Hagen added 9 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.  Zach Bredman had a team high 7 assists and led the team with 4 steals.

“We played very solid the entire game,” noted Coach Askegaard. “We went into halftime with an 18 point lead after only giving up 14 points. I was very pleased with our defense. We forced them into tough shots and rebounded the basketball. That helps! Offensively, we were pretty efficient against their zone. I was frustrated with a few silly turnovers that could have pushed the lead even further.  The second half was basically the same as the first half besides Frazee getting out of their zone and going man-to-man. We were able to move the ball effectively and either go open layups or open jumpers.”

The Trojans end the regular season with a 6-6 record in the HOL and 16-8 overall. They will open tournament play on Thursday, against a yet to be determined opponent.
