The Ashby Boys Basketball Team defeated the Brandon-Evansville Chargers 60-44 on Thursday night.  The Arrows had a 25-22 advantage on the halftime scoreboard.  It was Senior Night in Ashby as the team honored their three senior leaders, Levi Bogenrief, Bradee Christianson, and Brodie Ecker

“Levi brought energy to the starting line-up and a basket off a great cut. Bradee hit a big three-point hoop and free throws in the second half to provide momentum, and Brodie finished the game with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists,” reported Head Coach John Holsten of the Arrows.

Jake Norby was the Arrows leading scorer for the fourth straight game netting 16 points.  Easton Nelson recorded his first Varsity double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  The Arrows shot a season high 61% (22/36) from the field.

“We shot very well from the perimeter against the Chargers' zone defense,” commented Coach Holsten.  “Our dribble penetration allowed us to finish shots around the basket as well.  It was great that Levi, Bradee, and Brodie could have their last home basketball game end so memorably.  Those three guys are terrific representatives of the Ashby school district.”

‘I thought we got some good looks and took care of the ball well, which are both positives,” said B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “The problem was we couldn't throw a rock in the ocean if we were standing on the beach last night. Unfortunately, we were also not able to provide enough pressure defensively to make Ashby take tougher shots. Credit to the Arrows, they shot the ball extremely well throughout the entire game. We are excited to get some practice time in before playoffs start next week.”

The Chargers shot just 28% (14-50) on the night.  They were led by 12 points and 3 assists from Dezmond White, 10 points from Micah Fuller and 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals from Tanner Riedel

Ashby ends its regular season Friday night at state ranked Henning.
