St. Cloud Tech closed out the first half on a 23-8 run, taking a 36-21 halftime lead on the Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team on Thursday night.  The Tigers pushed the lead to 22 points early in the second half, however, the Otters cut the lead to 12 on a couple of occasions before falling by the score of 78-54.

Turnovers hurt the Otters in the first half, but they settled down and had only six second half turnovers.

Henry Bethel led the Otters with 21 points, including a pair of 3’s.  Ryan Hirst and Micah Johnson each scored 7 with Johnson also hitting two 3-pointers.  Joshua Sternberg had a team high 4 assists and Bethel had 3.  Jaydon Manteufel led the Otters with 5 rebounds.

Tameron Ferguson went 8-for-9 from the free throw line and scored 28 points to lead Tech.  Spencer Swenson was also in double figures with a dozen.  Jalyn Simmons scored all 9 of his points in the second half and Drew Lieser contributed 8.

Fergus Falls will host Perham in their regular season finale on Friday night at the Otter Fieldhouse.  It will be the first basketball played in the ‘Old Gym’ since the 2009-2010 season.
