The season ended for the West Central Area girls’ basketball team with a 57-49 loss to Montevideo in the Section 3AA North semifinals at Willmar on Tuesday night. Montevideo advances to face New London-Spicer in the sub-section championship game on Thursday night.
The lady Knights were leading 44-39 when the Thunder Hawks scored ten straight points to take a 49-44 lead and completed an 18-5 run to finish the victory.
Avery Koenen led Montevideo with a double-double (26 points, 12 rebounds) and Kiera Foley scored 10 points.
Leaders for WCA were Addison Staples (13 points, 6 rebounds), Macy Grosz (12 points, 4 assists), Mya Foslien (11 points), Jayden Styba (9 rebounds) and Claire Stark (7 rebounds).
West Central Area ends their season with a record of 11 wins and 14 losses.
