Alexandria had 39 shots on goal to 20 for Wadena-Deer Creek as the Cardinals earned a spot in the Section 6A championship game with a 7-2 victory over the Wolverines on Tuesday night at the MAC in St. Cloud. The Cardinals led 3-1 after one period, took a 5-1 lead after two and added a pair of third period goals to finish with an impressive semifinal round win.
Joe Lamski got the first of his three goals on the night 1:29 into the game with an assist from Jack Lamski. Evan Lunde of WDC evened the score at 8:18 with MJ Lunde picking up the lone assist. Tyler Kludt gave Alexandria a lead they never relinquished when he scored from Nick Peterson at 9:20 of the period, and Kludt then assisted on a goal by Evan Anderson at 14:15.
Peterson scored from Anderson and Kludt 2:28 into period number two for a 4-1 Alexandria lead and the Cardinals increased their lead to 5-1 on a power play goal by Peterson, assisted by Kludt and Jack Lamski at 11:14.
Dalton Moyer’s unassisted goal at 2:16 of the third period cut the lead to 5-2, but Joe Lamski finished off his hat trick with a goal from Henry Ramstorf at 5:10 and an unassisted tally at 14:27.
Alexandria will take a 13-12-1 record into the Section 6A championship game against Fergus Falls on Thursday at the MAC.
