The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team suffered their seventh straight defeat when they lost to Willmar on Tuesday afternoon, 68-56, in a Central Lakes Conference contest. The Otters trailed 30-24 at the half and the Cardinals increased their lead to as many as 16 late in the game.
Henry Bethel led the Otters with 23 points, 21 of them in the second half. Ryan Hirst contributed 16 and delivered a team high 6 rebounds. Bethel added 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Willmar had a 36-27 advantage on the boards and made 18-of-23 free throws.
Sam Raitz and Simon Radermacher led the Cardinals with 15 points each. Blake Schoolmeester finished with 13 points. Max Mobley had 9 rebounds to lead Willmar.
Fergus Falls (6-18, 4-10 CLC) will host St. Cloud Tech in a makeup game at 4:00pm Thursday at the Kennedy Secondary School. The Otters will close out their regular season schedule with a game against Perham on Friday at the Otter Fieldhouse. It will be the first game in the old Otter gym since 2010.
