The Henning boys’ basketball team held Bertha-Hewitt to just 34 points on Tuesday night as the Hornets recorded a 76-34 road win over the Bears. Henning shot 40% (27-67) from the floor and pulled down 44 rebounds, 13 of them on the offensive boards.
“There wasn’t a lot of energy or atmosphere in the BH Gymnasium tonight,” said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “And our players and coaches didn’t do a great job of bringing our own energy to the game early on. We were quiet, slow, and not engaged to begin the game. We made a nice push to open up a good margin at the end of the half and then extended the lead throughout the second half.”
Mason Hammer delivered a double double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. He also had a team high 5 assists. Kale Misegades also dished out 5 assists, while scoring 20 points and coming up with 3 steals and 5 rebounds. Tyson Misegades finished in double digits with 19 points and Lane Dilly just missed a double double, scoring 9 points and securing 10 rebounds.
“We finished the Park Region Conference with a 14-0 record and we’re proud to reach one of our team goals,” added Coach Misegades. “We have a lot of improving to do if we want to continue our journey.”
Brendan Adams led Bertha-Hewitt with 13 points and 18 rebounds. Brady Rach added 7 points and Preston Miller had 7 rebounds.
Henning (22-1, 14-0 PRC) is riding an 11 game winning streak as they prepare for a road game in Underwood on Friday night.
Bertha-Hewitt (9-13, 6-8 PRC) has lost 3 games in a row heading into their home game with Battle Lake on Friday night.
