Ridgewater Prevents M State from Making Post Season Appearance with 82-75 Win Over Spartans

The M State Men’s Basketball Team saw their hopes of a post season dashed by a second half comeback by Ridgewater on Saturday afternoon in Willmar.  M State held a 35-29 halftime advantage, however, the Warriors were able to put together a solid second half on the way to an 82-75 victory over the Spartans, ending the season for both teams.

Noel Kabanga put up some huge stats for M State, scoring 27 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.  He was joined in double digits by Foday Sheriff with 18 points.  Sheriff just missed a double double as he snared 9 rebounds.  He also had a team high 6 assists.  Akok Aguer finished with 9 points on the day.  M State shot 43.5% (30-69) from the field and hit 26% (5-19) of their 3’s.  They were a perfect 10-for-10 on the free throw line.  They also held a 45-38 edge on the boards.

Ridgewater placed three players in double figures, led by Jaylyn Clardy with 24.  Malik Westerfield finished with 15 and Deron Lacy added 13.  Tyson Dyer led the Warriors with 4 assists and 3 steals.  Ridgewater made 42% (30-71) of their shots from the field and 29% (9-31) of their 3-pointers.  They were 13-of-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line.

M State ends the season with a record of 14-12 and a MCAC South Division mark of 6-6.
