The Perham girls basketball team continued their excellent season with a 69-49 road win over the Hawley Nuggets on Thursday night.  One of the areas that the Yellowjackets dominated was on the glass, where Perham got close to 20 offensive rebounds, including 10 by Willow Thiel

“It was a really good night,” stated Perham Head Coach TJ Super.  “The girls came out with a great energy, jumped out to a big lead, and never looked back.  Once it became a double digit lead I don’t think it ever got less than 15 or so.”

Individually, Willow Thiel led Perham with 27 points and 14 rebounds.  Mya Morris knocked down four more threes and added 14 points.

Ryleigh Mickelson was a stud off the bench,” added Coach Super.  “She scored eight points, added seven rebounds, and dialed out seven assists.”

Perham finishes the Heart O’ Lakes Conference schedule with an undefeated 12-0 record.  This is the second consecutive conference championship for the Yellowjackets, after having only won one conference championship in the previous 13 years.

Perham made 27-of-61 field goal attempts, including 8-of-17 from 3-point range.  They also had 41 points, 19 assists and 12 steals.

Anna Steer scored 25 points to lead the Nuggets and Ingrid Rustad added 7.

Perham (21-2, 12-0 HOL) plays at Fergus Falls on Saturday night.

Hawley (13-8, 3-8 HOL) is at DGF next Tuesday and will host Menahga on Thursday in their final game of the regular season.
