The Henning boys’ basketball team recorded their 20th win of the season and wrapped up the Park Region Conference Championship with a 73-36 victory over Verndale on the Hornets home floor.  It marks the fourth time in the last six years that Henning has won the PRC title outright.  The game was highlighted by Tyson Misegades reaching 1000 career points.

“Our guys competed hard and took care of business,” said Head Coach Randy Misegades of the Hornets.  “Congratulation to Tyson Misegades on reaching the 1000 point milestone.  As his coach and his dad, I know how hard he works and how much Henning Basketball means to him.  He’s been in the gym with me since before he could walk and tonight was just a small part of the journey for Tyson and our team.”

Tyson finished with 24 points, 5 assists and 3 steals.  Mason Hammer added 21 points, 5 assists, 7 rebounds and 5 steals, and Kale Misegades contributed 13 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and a pair of steals.  Henning shot 51% (27-52) from the field and made all 12 of their free throw opportunities.

Shawn Schmitz led Verndale with 14 points and Jaden Schulke had 8.  The Pirates made only 39% of their shots.

Henning (20-1, 13-0 PRC) will host Parkers Prairie on Thursday.

Verndale (6-15, 3-9 PRC) is off until next Tuesday when they will host New York Mills.
