Thiel Scores 35 to Pace Yellowjackets to 63-59 Win Over Cowgirls

Willow Thiel poured in 35 points on Friday night to lead the Perham girls’ basketball team to a 63-59 Heart O’ Lakes Conference victory over the Breckenridge Cowgirls.  “It was a back-and-forth game with a really great atmosphere and great energy,” said Perham Head Coach TJ Super.

Mya Morris joined Thiel in double figures with 14 points, connecting on four 3-point field goals.  Perham was 15-for-23 from the free throw line in the game.  Thiel had a team high 6 rebounds and Olivia Pilgrim dished out 6 assists.  Cora Grismer was 5-for-6 on free throws.  The Yellowjackets had only 10 turnovers and had 17 assists on 22 made field goals.

Parker Yaggie scored 22 points to lead the Cowgirls and Johnica Bernotas added 9.  Breckenridge was 9-for-13 from the foul line.

Perham (20-2, 11-0 HOL) will host Park Rapids on Tuesday, travel to Hawley for their final HOL contest on Thursday and play at Fergus Falls on Saturday.

Breckenridge (14-6, 6-4 HOL) has a home game with Barnesville on Monday and will travel to play Ada-Borup on Tuesday and Pelican Rapids on Thursday.
