Alexandria Girls Pound Willmar Net with 48 Shots, Record 3-1 Win

The Alexandria girls’ hockey team had 48 shots on goal Tuesday night as they scored once in each period to defeat Willmar by the score of 3-1.  Willmar managed just 11 shots on the Alexandria net, with only one coming in the final period. 

Alexandria got on the board at 15:17 of the first period when Lillian Dutton scored from Ella Westlund and Lauren Maras.  Willmar goalie Erin Eilers turned aside 20 shots in the period and had 45 saves on the night.

Thirty-three seconds into the second period, Westlund scored from Aubrie Porter, giving Alexandria a 2-0 lead.  Willmar cut the lead in half with a goal from Makenna Larson at 12:46, assisted by Samantha Poe and Lily Jorgenson.

Alexandria regained a two-goal cushion at 6:36 of the third when Sophia Korynta scored from Kylie Lattimer and Jersey Severson.

Alexandria goalie Rachael Mohr stopped 10 of the 11 shots she faced in the game.
