Six Different Otters Score Goals in 7-1 CLC Road Win

Six different players scored goals on Tuesday night as Fergus Falls won their Central Lakes girls’ hockey contest against Sartell/Sauk Rapids by the score of 7-1.  The Otters put 34 shots on the Stormin’ Sabres net and the home team managed just 12 shots in the game.

“Get it deep, outwork them on the forecheck, cause turnovers, score goals,” said Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Great team effort tonight.”

Lydia Johnson got the Otters going with a goal at 2:58 of the first period, assisted by Maddie HulterTyra Skjeret’s goal from Skye Norgren at 5:13 gave the Otters a 2-0 lead.

Sartell/Sauk Rapids got their only goal at 3:27 of the second period when Emily VanVickle scored from Brayley VanDenBerg.  Hulters’ goal at 11:45 was assisted by Maddie Brimhall and increased the Fergus Falls lead to 3-1.  Hannah Johnson scored at 15:40 to make it a 4-1 Otter lead.  Hulter and Brimhall earned assists on the goal.

At the 1:02 mark of the third period Averie Tonneson scored from Skjeret for a 5-1 lead.  Rachel DeBrito’s goal from Skjeret at 11:37 made it 6-1 and Hannah Johnson’s second of the night at 13:27 closed out the scoring.  Tonneson had the assist on the goal.

Lexi Metcalf got the win in the Otter net, making 11 saves.

Fergus Falls (18-4-1) will host Willmar on Tuesday, January 31.
