The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team featured a balanced scoring attack again on Tuesday night as they picked up a 73-38 Little Eight Conference win in Battle Lake.  “The girls played another game of very unselfish basketball,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “They moved the ball well and did a nice job varying their shot selection.”

Ruby Peterson (14 points, 5 steals), Elsa Retzlaff (14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals), Maddie Ballweg (13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists), Lizzy Olstad (12 points), Ella Knutson (9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and Madi Foss (6 points, 8 rebounds) all had big stat nights for the Comets.  Stella Moline added 5 points off the bench.

“Maddie Ballweg and Ella Knutson did a nice job distributing the ball tonight,” noted Coach Clark.  “Ruby Peterson was a big spark for us the second half, turning up the defensive pressure and knocking down shots on the offensive end of the floor.  Elsa and Lizzy also shot the ball well.”

Hillcrest (10-5, 5-3 LEC) will play at Hancock on Friday night.

Battle Lake will play at Bertha-Hewitt on Thursday and will host Rothsay on Friday.
