The Rothsay boys’ basketball team held a 38-23 halftime lead over Ortonville on Tuesday night and held the Trojans to only 14 second half points as they recorded a 56-37 victory in the Bill Rose Gymnasium in Rothsay.  The win was the first of the year for the Tigers, snapping a seven game losing streak to start the season.

“We came out and played hard early and made some big shots,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “We had a lot of mental breakdowns in both halves, but I’m glad the boys came ready to play and came out with the victory.”

Rothsay was led by Matthew Danielson with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.  Carson Weiers had 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Rothsay will play at Hillcrest on Thursday night.

Ortonville will be at home for three straight games starting on Thursday when they host Renville County West.
