After taking their first loss of the season on Wednesday against West Central Area, the Battle Lake boys’ basketball team bounced back with a solid 69-25 win over New York Mills on Thursday in the Minnesota National Bank Holiday Classic in Pelican Rapids.

The Battlers featured a balanced attack and were led by Owen Buehler (21 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals), Jack Mekalson (14 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 seals, 2 blocks) and Mason Dalluge (14 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists).  Drew Johnson added 9 points and 9 rebounds, while Bradyn Roisum finished with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.

“Our guys had a nice response and win after a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday,” acknowledged Head Coach Brady Cameron of Battle Lake.  “We defended at a high level, especially in the second half, only giving up 8 points and holding them to 2-for-16 from the field.  A couple of our bright spots were our 15 assists on our 26 made shots and only 6 turnovers on the day.  We have also been shooting the ball well lately and our guys are gaining confidence in their shot.  We have a tough test coming up on Tuesday night when Henning comes to town, so we need to have a couple of good practices and get ourselves prepared for the big rivalry game.”
