The Underwood boys’ basketball team held a 31-21 halftime advantage and were able to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 25 points on the way to a 69-47 victory over Sebeka on Thursday night.  The Rockets were down 10-2 early in the game, but made a nice run midway through the first half to take a halftime lead.

Drew Evavold (19 points, 7-10FG, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks) and Gavin Pausch (10 points, 4-5FG, 4 assists) were both in double digits for the Rockets.  Hudson Risbrudt added 7 points and 4 rebounds, Kaleb Hammes had 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, Cole Peterson finished with 6 points on 3-for-3 shooting and Owen Harig contributed 6 points and 3 assists.

“We had a much better defensive effort tonight, and finished with a rebound, limiting their second chance points,” reported Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “We struggled to knock down some shots early, which led to a 10-2 deficit, but Hudson Risbrudt hit 2 threes at a crucial point in that game to get us rolling and bring it to 10-8. Drew Evavold, Gavin Pausch and Kaleb Hammes were very efficient on offense, and really stepped up and set a good tone for us tonight. Jack Parker and Collin Lukken were excellent off the bench for us, giving us great minutes in the first half with Cole Peterson getting two early fouls. This was a big bounce back game for us, and I’m proud of their effort!”

No Sebeka stats have been reported.

The Rockets will go to Ashby to face the Arrows in their first Little Eight Conference game on Tuesday night.
