The Henning boys’ basketball is 3-0 after a 64-40 win over Menahga in their Park Region Conference opener on Thursday night.  The Hornets led 34-15 at the half.  Mason Hammer scored the first 16 points of the second half for the Hornets and finished with a game high 27 points, hitting six 3’s in the process.  Hammer also had a team high 8 rebounds.

Kale Misegades and Tyson Misegades contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively. Tyson added 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 assists, while Kale had 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Henning was successful on 11-of-12 field goals in the game and had 11 3’s as a team.  The Hornets shot 42% (21-50) from the field and made 10-of-26 (38%) three’s.

“Nice to get the first conference win under our belt,” stated Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “We got sloppy at times and turned the ball over far too much. We’ve got to find more consistency on both ends of the floor. We have yet to play a complete game.  We led 50-15 at one point and then we lost our intensity and coasted for the remainder of the game. It is a work in progress and we’ll get better.”

Menahga (0-4) was led by Bodie Berttunen with 15 points, 4 rebound and 3 assists, and Ryan Tolkkinen with 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.  Brock Berttunen grabbed a team leading 9 rebounds and had 4 points..

Menahga will host Bertha-Hewitt in another PRC contest on Tuesday and Henning has a home game against Rothsay on Friday night to complete back-to-back home games.
