The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team recorded their second win of the season downing the Ortonville Trojans 53-40 on Tuesday night in Ashby.  The Arrows had a 26-16 lead at halftime.

Arrows junior post Jake Norby led all scorers with 21 points.  He also grabbed 13 rebounds for his first double-double in Varsity basketball competition.  Easton Nelson joined Jake in double figures netting 12 points while dishing out 8 assists.  Brodie Ecker was next for the Arrows recording 8 points.  Kellen Dahlen and Richie Johnson each added six points to round out the scoring.  The Arrows shot 40% (21/53) from the field.

Ortonville senior guard DRU Boots was the only Trojan to reach double figures making five three-point baskets on the way to a 19-point night.  He and several of his teammates were required to step up when talented point guard Hunter Merritt suffered an ankle injury early in the game.

“We got off to a good start taking a 12-2 lead,” reported Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Toward the end of the half the lead grew to 26-10.  The Trojans just kept competing and narrowed our lead to 10 at halftime.  They are a scrappy team and managed to get the score to within 6 late but our guys made clutch free throws down the stretch to keep a good working margin.”

The Arrows have 2 wins against 1 loss on the season and next host the Underwood Rockets Tuesday, December 13.
