The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team completed their two game weekend road trip with their second shutout in as many days.  After a 3-0 win in Thief River Falls on Friday night the Otters recorded a 5-0 win in East Grand Forks on Saturday afternoon.  The Otters had 35 shots on goal and held the Greenwave to just 14 shots.

“It was a great defensive effort this weekend, giving up only 20 shots in the two games,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Both goalies (Lexi Metcalf and Ana Jyrkas) earning a shutty and Coach Hershner has done amazing work with his young defensemen.”

Fergus Falls took a 3-0 lead in the first period.  Lydia Johnson got the scoring started at 3:31 of the period with assists from Rylynn Krein and Maddie Brimhall.  Brimhall then put the Otters ahead 2-0 at 6:18 when she scored from Krein and Ella Starzl.  A goal by Tyra Skjeret at 10:26 made it 3-0.  Maddie Hulter and Hannah Johnson earned assists on the goal.

Hannah Johnson assisted on a second period goal by Hulter, giving the Otters a 4-0 lead.

In the third period, Fergus Falls finished the scoring with an unassisted goal by Skjeret.

Fergus Falls (7-2) will host Alexandria on Tuesday night.
