The Underwood boys’ basketball team returns all five of their starters from a year ago, led by senior captains Cole Peterson (F) and Jayden Harig (F).  In all they have 9 returning letter winners on the roster as Head Coach Kellen Shebeck begins his second year at the helm.  Shebeck will be assisted by Drew Pearson, Aaron Grove and Jake Risbrudt.

“We gained a ton of experience last year, and while still quite young, we have excellent senior leadership,” noted Coach Shebeck.  “We are still undersized compared to most teams in our conference, so playing fast, physical and extremely hard will be very important for us.  We struggled to shoot well outside and create much of a half-court offense, which I expect to be improved this year.  Our success will depend on our defense, and if we are able to challenge our opponents in the way we need to.”

Other returning letter winners are junior Gavin Pausch (G), sophomores Kaleb Hammes (G), Owen Harig (G), Hudson Risbrudt (G), Evan Lundgren (G) and Collin Lukken (F), and freshman Drew Evavold (G).  Junior forward Noah Link will also be looking to crack the varsity lineup.

Coach Shebeck sees Wheaton/Herman-Norcross and Hillcrest as the top teams in the Little Eight Conference, while Wheaton/Herman-Norcross, BBE and Henning are his favorites in Section 6A.
