Spartan Men Win Third Straight Game

The M State Men’s basketball team led 31-30 at halftime in Thief River Falls on Tuesday night, but they outscored the Northland Pioneers 42-29 over the final 20 minutes to record a 73-59 victory, improving their season record to 3-0.

M State made 50% (29-58) of their field goal attempts and hit 29.6% (8-27) of their 3’s.  They also won the rebounding battle, 42-34.  Double-doubles were posted by Noel Kabanga (25 points, 10 rebounds) and Foday Sheriff (18 points, 10 rebounds).  Yonis Mohamud and Mikele Kambalo were also in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Northland was led by Malic Osei-Tutu with 19 points and Izeon Aaron with 13.  Rebound leaders were Ashawn Philips and Rah’meen Harris with 9 and 8, respectively.

M State (3-0) will play Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids next Tuesday night.
