Silverstreaks Knock Knights Out of Section 6AA Playoffs

The Osakis Silverstreaks, seeded number one in Section 6AA, survived a scare from West Central Area/Ashby, the number 4 seeds, beating the Knights by the score of 28-19 on Saturday afternoon in Osakis.

The Knights scored first when Anthony Sykora went 4 yards to the end zone with 8:09 to go in the opening quarter.  Sykora's extra point kick gave the visitors a 7-0 lead.  Osakis then tied the game with 1:20 left in the quarter on a 2 yard run by Drew Imdieke and a Duncan Tronicke extra point kick.

On fourth and goal midway through the second quarter, quarterback Kyle Mages delivered a two-yard scoring toss to Imdieke and Tronicke made it 14-7, Osakis.  The Silverstreaks upped their lead to 21-7 with 1:12 left in the half on a 6 yard run by Mages and another Tronicke PAT kick.  WCA/Ashby pulled to within 21-13 when they scored on a 35 yard pass to Cole Anderson from Sykora with just six seconds remaining in the half.

Following a scoreless third quarter, the Knights got a fourth down TD on a quarterback sneak by Brady Lindquist from the one yard line, however, their two-point conversion try failed and the Knights trailed 21-19.  Osakis completed the scoring when Kyle Mages his his brother, Grant Mages, with a 15 yard TD pass.  Tronicke booted the extra point for the final score of 28-19.

Kyle Mages completed 6-of-10 passes for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  He also had a rushing TD and intercepted 3 passes on the day.  Tyson Hagedorn ran for 75 yard son 19 carries and caught one pass for 37 yards.  Imdieke had 52 rushing yards on 16 carries and Gavin Cimbura had six carries for 54 yards.

Leaders for the Knights were Sykora (13 carries, 63 yards, 3 catches, 18 yards, 2 completions, 6 attempts, 43 passing yards, 1 rushing TD, 1 passing TD), Cole Anderson (2 catches, 68 yards, TD), Lindquist (7 completions, 11 attempts, 82 yards) and Nas Dotts (3 catches, 30 yards).

West Central Area/Ashby ends their season with a 6-4 record.  Osakis will take an 8-1 mark into the Section 6AA title game against Sauk Centre at 3:00pm Friday at the Fargodome.
