On Friday, we faced incredibly difficult playing conditions and didn't handle them well as we struggled," commented Head Coach Jason Retzlaff of the Spartans.  "I'm hopeful the experience will make us better when we face those conditions in the future.  On Saturday, we played much better, coming up just shy of a win.  Leo Stepan was tremendous on Saturday as his putter was on fire.  Joel Quam also had a very nice couple of days leading us on Friday and giving us a solid score on Saturday."

Ellia Soydara earned medalist honors on Friday at the UMM Invite at Minnewaska Area Golf Course in Glenwood, firing an 86 in extremely difficult weather conditions.  On Saturday, she finished third individually at the Maroon and Gold Classic at Pomme de Terre Golf Course in Morris, recording an 87.  Payton Sierra of UM-Morris was the women's medalist on Saturday with an 83.

"Ellia had another nice weekend as she pulled out a one shot win on Friday," reported Coach Retzlaff.  "She hit a clutch shot from 180 yards out on the final hole that set up her finish.  She played with great patience in difficult conditions."

The M State Men finished tied for 3rd as a team on Friday and 2nd on Saturday.  M State was only 3 strokes behind the team winner, Sisseton-Wahpeton, on Saturday.

Joel Quam led the Spartans on Friday with an 85, good for eighth place individually, and Leo Stepan finished as runner-up on Saturday with a 75, one shot back of medalist honors.  Brady Raph of UM-Morris was men's medalist on Friday with a 70.  Men's medalist on Saturday was Marshall O'Meara of UM-Morris with a 74.
