Fergus Falls sent Jaden Miller to state in boys’ cross country last season and Miller is part of a large sophomore group of runners who return with varsity experience for the 2022 season.  He is joined by Jack Welde, Logan Bredenberg, Henry Greenagel and Tommy Erickson, along with junior David Ronnevik and freshman Matthew Tuel.

“Much of the varsity team is returning for this season,” noted Head Coach Derek Meyer, now in his seventh season.  “This group of boys was very successful, placing high in most meets and being very close to qualifying as a team for the state meet.  The strength of this team is returning so many of the top talent.  They will be around for a few years.  They should have a good sense of how last season went and what it will take to get to the next level.  Our weakness will be those who did not train this summer.  Some teammates will be ready to go and start where they left off or better.  Others may not have taken things as seriously and will take the season to regain their fitness.”

Freshmen Landon Votava, Eric Swanson and Micah Mouser will by trying to crack the varsity lineup.

Niki Welde and Josh Scharnberg will assist Coach Meyer.

Meyer’s team favorites are Little Falls in Section 8AA and Brainerd in the Central Lakes Conference.
