The 2021 Breckenridge volleyball season will be a tough act to follow!  The Cowgirls were 30-4 a year ago, including a 5-1 record in the tough Heart O’ Lakes Conference.  They also won the Section 6A championship, making their first state tournament appearance since 1980, placing sixth in the state.  Thirteen player and team records were broken and two players reach 1000 career numbers, Riley Finkral in digs and Camryn Kaehler in kills.  With only two returning letter winners, the Cowgirls will face a steep challenge in 2022.

“This will be a season of overcoming odds,” acknowledge Head Coach Margaret Wilson, now in her sixth season.  “I don’t think many teams expect much out of us because we graduated a lot, but we bring back experience and a desire to compete as we did last season.  Our section has some of the top teams in the state and it’s going to be a battle, but we know what it takes and we’re prepping for a competitive season.”

Returning for the Cowgirls are senior Abigail Johnson (Outside Hitter) and Addison Twidwell (Middle Hitter).

Coach Wilson will be looking for seniors Mattea Vig (Right Side), Ivy Ovsak (Right Side) and Kelsey Ceroll (Setter), junior Hailee Hanson (Middle Hitter) and sophomore Sydni Roberts (Outside Hitter) to take on extensive varsity roles this season.

Wilson, who will be assisted by Alicia Finkral, Missy Johnson and Briana Dauer, sees Henning and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa as the top teams in Section 6A, while Hawley, Perham and DGF are at the top of the HOL.
