Head Coach Jared Hoemberg came out of his first year with the Bertha-Hewitt Bears feeling good about where his team is at as they prepare for the 2022 season.  “We made a lot of progress last year with our culture,” said Hoemberg.  “We competed every single game and ended our season with our best game of the year.  We look forward to making more progress this season, competing at a high level.”  Hoemberg is assisted by Jonathan Larson and Mike Barthel.

The Bears lost eight seniors to graduation, which means a lot of opportunity for players to earn starting positions heading into the season.  Returning starters include juniors Kobie Hinzmann (QB) and Aidan Bauch (WR/CB) and seniors Brendan Adams (DL/TE) and Eli Eggert (LB/RB).

Seniors Zander Templin (OL/DL), Stetson Guderjahn (OL/DL) and Collin Moller (OL/DL), and sophomores Cayden Kimber (LB/RB), Carter Whilhelmi (CB/WR) and Mason Sawyer (OL/DL) are also expected to make an impact at the varsity level.

“We are excited to see what this season has in store as we have a lot of new faces,” noted Coach Hoemberg.  “It can be seen as a weakness, but we see it as a strength as we don’t even know our own potential yet.”

Hoemberg says Wheaton/Herman-Norcross will be the team to beat in Section 4 of 9-Man.
