The Hawley Nuggets boys’ cross country team is in an extremely tough Conference (Heart O’ Lakes) and Section (8A).  They, along with all of the other conference and section teams, seem to always be chasing perennial powerhouses Perham and Park Rapids.  That hasn’t changed heading into the 2022 season.

“We return more scorers than all section foes except Perham and Park Rapids,” noted seventh-year Head Coach Nathan Stoa.  “The goal for the team will be to work hard to continue to close the gap between those two teams and us, as we hope to challenge for a top 2-3 spot in the section at the end of the season.”

The Nuggets return seniors Tyler Hogenson, Steven Sellin and Ian Kronbeck, junior Landon Bakke, sophomore Bridger Larson, freshman Coleman Hoff and eighth-grader Landon Nathe as their top scorers from the 2021 squad.  They also welcome Ben Geeslin to the roster after spending a year with the football team.  Stoa expects Geeslin to challenge to be in the top five runners from the start of the season.

2014 Hawley graduation Dylan Olson will serve as the assistant coach.
