With two outs in the first inning, Mann singled and scored on Stanislawski’s round tripper.  In the third, Sean McGuire drew a lead-off walk and scored on Mann’s blast one out later.  Austin Stanislawski led off the fourth inning with a triple and scored on a one-out double by McGuire.  Alex Hensch then singled in McGuire and stole second base before scoring on a base hit by Mann.  A six-run fifth inning was highlighted by bases loaded walks to McGuire and Hensch, a two-run double by Mann and a run-scoring double by Darin Stanislawski.  A Mann double drove in McGuire for the final run in the sixth inning.

Sauk Centre scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

McGuire (2-3, 2B, 4R, 2RBI), Hensch (2-4, 2R, 2RBI, SB), Mann (5-5, 2 2B, HR, 3R, 6RBI), Darin Stanislawski (2-5, 2B, HR, 2R, 3RBI), Carter Thielke (2-5, R, SB) and Austin Stanislawski (2-4, 3B, 2R, BB) led the 17-hit attack by the Canes.

Alex Hexum (5.1IP, 4K, 1BB, 6H, 3ER) improved his record to 5-0 with the victory.

“The Canes brought out the lumber with 7 extra base hits in a game played in a steady, light rain which could not slow down the bats,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Davy Johnson.  “Alex Hexum did a great job in pitching the Canes to their seventh straight State Tournament appearance and 24th overall.  We jumped out early and just kept hitting.  Carter did a great job shutting down a Titan rally in the sixth and had an easy 1-2-3 seventh inning to end the game.”

In other Region 16C action, Urbank eliminated Breckenridge, 2-0 and Alexandria eliminated Dent, 2-0.

Three teams remain in the battle for the section state tournament berth.  Alexandria and Urbank will play an elimination game at 8pm Friday in Carlos on Friday at 8:00pm with the winner advancing to face Sauk Centre in another elimination game on Saturday at 1:00pm in Kensington.  The winner of that game will qualify for state and will play Fergus Falls for the Region 16C championship at 4:00pm Saturday in Kensington.
