An overall record of 21-6, a 15-1 mark in conference play, an undefeated record on their home court, Region 13 Champions, Third place in the nation in the NJCAA Division III Tournament.  That is a pretty impressive summary of the 2021 season for the M State lady Spartans volleyball team.  As Abby Crowser enters her eight year as head coach, she does so with a strong group of 8 returners from that very successful team.

Sophomores Kaia Strom (Setter), Bailey Marty (Libero), Brooke Hovland (Outside Hitter), Avery Wanner (Defensive Specialist), Emily Dehler (Middle Hitter/Right Side) and Alaina Anderson (Middle Hitter/Right Side) are back with extensive experience.

Key newcomers are freshmen Faith Marion (Outside Hitter/Right Side), Kendra Emery (Outside Hitter) and Kaleigh Sip (Defensive Specialist).

“We have a strong group of returners and a very talented incoming freshman crew,” stated Coach Crowser.  “Figuring out the best positions for multiple players will be a challenge.  The majority of our hitters are versatile and finding the best suited position for them at the net will be a priority right away.  Defensively, we should be very strong.  We have a lot of height at the net for blocking and a very talented back row.  Offensively, we are going to work on being more unpredictable so the opponent will not know where the ball will be set.  Our experience at the national tournament last year was so much fun and we are determined to go back and make a statement.”

Crowser will be assisted by Morgan Aasness and Krista Shaikoski.  She sees Rochester and St. Cloud as the top teams in the conference and Region 13.
