Powers Makes an Impact as Alexandria 14U Team Wins State 15U Babe Ruth State Tournament

Hunter Powers, a member of the Fergus Falls 14U Babe Ruth team, was drafted by Alexandria 14UAAA and had the opportunity to participate in the Minnesota 15U Babe Ruth State Tournament in Paynesville this past week.  Alexandria 14U AAA went 6-0 in the tournament, capturing the Babe Ruth State Championship, winning 4-2 over Staples Motley 15U. 

Powers played a key role for Alexandria during the tournament making 4 separate appearances, pitching a total of 4 ⅔ innings, yielding only 1 earned run, and striking out 5 opposing hitters.  Powers also had an impact at the plate, going 2-2 with a walk and he delivered a key RBI double to the left center field gap in the championship game, giving Alexandria the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th.

Powers was a key contributor on the Fergus Falls 14U Baseball team this summer.  Powers hit for a .415 average in 107 plate appearances.  On the hill, Powers tallied 44 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched, helping lead the Otters to a 25-12.
