Hurricanes Advance in Region 16C with 7-2 Win Over Osakis

The Fergus Falls Hurricanes began play in the Region 16C Amateur Baseball Tournament with a 7-2 victory over the Osakis Hawks on Sunday.  Fergus Falls had a first round bye and Osakis won their first game on Saturday, 11-3 over Kensington.

Alex Hexum (5IP, 2K, 4BVB, 8H, 2R, 1ER) improved his season record to 4-0 on the mound.  Darin Stanislawski (4IP, 7K, 0BB, 3H, 0R) earned the save with four strong innings.

Osakis scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning, but Fergus Falls tied the game with a run of their own in the bottom of the second on a run-scoring double by Thomas Bosek.

The Hurricanes took a 4-1 lead by scoring three times in the third.  RBI singles by Alex Hexum and Thomas Bosek, and a RBI ground out by Carter Thielke led to the runs.  Osakis scored in the top of the fourth, cutting the Canes lead to 4-2, however, Fergus Falls pushed across three more runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Owen Krueger drove in a run with a base hit and Sean McGuire knocked in two runs with a single.

The Hurricanes were led by Alex Hexum (2-4, 3R, RBI), Bosek (4-5, 2 2B, R, 2RBI), Thielke (1-3, R, 2BB, SB, RBI) and Krueger (1-2, 2BB, RBI).

Fergus Falls will play Urbank in a winners’ bracket game on Saturday in Kensington.
