Five-Run Sixth Carries OTC 15U to Win in Rapid City

The Ottertail Central 15U Babe Ruth team improved to 2-1 in pool play at the Babe Ruth Regional Championship Tournament in Rapid City, South Dakota, recording a 7-3 victory over the Rapid City Sliders on Saturday night.  OTC trailed 3-2 when they scored five times in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead for good.  OTC had 10 hits and capitalized on 6 Rapid City errors.

Eric Fick delivered a two-run double in the sixth, giving OTC a 4-3 advantage.  Fick (7IP, 3R, 5H, 1K, 0BB) fired a complete game on the mound to earn the victory.

Leading hitters were Gavin Pausch (3-4, 3R) and Fick (2-3, 2B, RBI), Kale Misegades (1-2, 2RBI), Owen Harig (1-4, 2RBI) and Conner Thompson (1-3, 2B).

"I am so proud of the way these boys came out and played tonight," said OTC Head Coach Evan Meece.  "We had a tough loss on Friday, but rebounded with a great team win today.  Eric pitched phenomenally and battled through the whole game.  We had several clutch hits in the 6th to take the lead back for good.  We'll prepare for another battle tomorrow and be ready to go and play our game." 

Ottertail Central will complete Pool Play at 12:30pm Sunday against Chaffee, Missouri.  A win will send OTC to the semifinals on Monday.  The top two teams in this tournament will advance to the  Babe Ruth World Series in Stafford, Virginia, August 11 through August 21.
