Eagles Collect 14 Hits in 10-1 Triumph Over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale

Jonah Johnson collected 3 hits, stole two bases and drove in five runs to lead New York Mills to a 10-1 win over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale on Tuesday in the Class A State Baseball Quarterfinals at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.  

Jacob Guck (3-4, 3B, 3R), Brayden Ehnert (3-4, 3B, RBI, R) and Bode Roberts (2-4, 3B, 2RBI, R) also had multiple hit efforts at the plate for the Eagles, who had a total of 14 hits in the game.

Guck (5IP, 5H, 1ER, 0BB, 5K) was the winning pitcher for New York Mills.  Bren Salo and DeShaun Robinson each went one inning in relief.

Kole Weishalla (6IP, 14H, 9ER, 2BB, 1K) took the loss for the Raiders.  The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale offense was led by Joshua Johnson (1-2, RBI, BB) and Weishalla (1-3, R).

New York Mills will face Randolph in a semifinal contest on Wednesday at 1:00pm at Joe Faber Field, while Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale takes on MACCRAY in the consolation semifinals at 1:15pm Wednesday at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids.
