The Breckenridge Bucks outhit North Branch but stranded 13 runners for a tough 5-2 semifinal match loss on Sunday.  Hunter Wamre started on the mound and struggled in the first inning walking three batters and giving up two runs.  After that he settled in and threw five shutout innings.

The Bucks had numerous opportunities to score, leaving the bases loaded and a man on third with nobody out, but they were unable to get the key hit until the bottom of the sixth when Jack Hiedeman singled to score Cooper Yaggie.

In the top of the seventh North Branch put the first two batters on with singles.  After a pop out to Mitch Porter at first base, the next batter singled to center field.  Jack Hiedeman threw a laser home to Jared Aamold who tagged the runner out.  The next batter hit a ground ball that should have ended the inning, but the Bucks weren’t able to make the play, allowing two runs to score.  The next batter singled, adding an extra insurance run.

In the bottom of the seventh a Cooper Yaggie singled scored Hunter Wamre to cut the lead to 5-2.  With two men on base, Aaron Neppl hit a ground ball in the hole and was called out at first on a tough call to end the game.

The Bucks play a Countryside League game versus Pelican Rapids at home on Wednesday, June 15 at 6:30pm.
