The Alexandria Cardinals have captured the Section 8AAA Baseball championship.  After losing to Little Falls 1-0, the Cards got the bats going in the second game between the two teams and went on to record a 14-4 victory, claiming the title and qualifying for the Class AAA State Tournament.

Little Falls scored their only run of game one in the second inning on a double by Beau Thoma, scoring Riley Czech.  The Flyers only managed four hits in the game and their pitcher, Zach Gwost (7IP, 6H, 2BB, 8K) was sharp throughout the contest.  Brock Lerfald went 2-for-4 to lead Alexandria.

Game two was a different story as Alexandria scored 3 runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to establish control.  They finished with 17 hits on the day, led by Reed Reisdorf (3-4, 2B, 3RBI, 2R), Nate Hammerbeck (3-4, 2B, 2RBI, 3R), Lerfald (3-5, RBI, R), Caleb Range (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, 2R), Lake Hagen (2-3, RBI, R) and JD Hennen (2-4, 2RBI, 2R).  The win went to starting pitcher Jaxon Schoenrock (4.2IP, 2H, 2ER, 2BB, 8K).

Alexandria takes a 19-6 record into state tournament play.
