Fergus Falls Girls Track and Field Awards

Senior Ainsley Hansen was the top point scorer for the Fergus Falls Girls’ Track and Field team and she also set a new school record in the high jump, clearing 5-feet-7-inches at the Detroit Lakes Invitational and again at the Central Lakes Conference championship meet.  Hansen established new meet records in the high jump in the Central Lakes Conference Indoor Meet, Central Lakes Conference Outdoor Meet and the Section 8AA Meet.  She will compete at the Class AA Minnesota State Girls Track and Field Meet in St. Michael Albertville on Friday morning.  For all of her accomplishments this spring, Hansen received the Most Valuable Jumper award when the Otters held their Awards Banquet on Monday night.

Becca Schindler and Siiri Smestad shared the Most Valuable Track Athlete award and Smestad was also the recipient of the Most Valuable Freshman award.  Haley Kugler was named Most Valuable Thrower.  Sonja Lahti won the Coaches’ Award and was also named Most Improved Athlete.  Kezi Hartwell was the winner of the Spirit Award and Sarah Grotberg was named the Hardest Worker on the team.

Other awards went to Rachel DeBrito (Most Valuable 7th-8th Grader) and Ella Starzl (Most Valuable Sophomore).
