M-State head women’s basketball coach, Jodi Holleman announced that six high school standouts have recently signed letters of intent to continue their academic and basketball careers at M-State.

Hailey Nelson – Sisseton High School
Hailey plays with a ton of heart and intensity. She is a strong versatile guard that should make an immediate impact both offensively and defensively.  Her greatest asset is her incredible work ethic.

She had a great career at Sisseton High School and was named captain both her Junior/Senior year along with winning the Leadership Award this past season.  She has also played for the West Central Wildcat AAU Program for the past 5 years.

Keely Foley – Montevideo High School
Keely is another versatile guard that can play both Pt. Guard and Shooting Guard. She plays with a ton of confidence, mental toughness, and communicates well with her teammates.  She led the Thunderhawks to their first State Tournament Appearance this past season.

Keely was awarded the Coaches Award and the Team Player Award this past season.  She has also played for the West Central Wildcat AAU Program for the past 8 years.

Itzel Salazar, Long Prairie - Grey Eagle High School
Another quick, aggressive guard that will be fun to watch as the Spartans will continue to utilize the full-court press and fast break attack.  Itzel plays very unselfish and is always looking for an assist.  She has the ability to knock down 3’s and is an outstanding defender.

Caitlin Baardsen, Perham High School
We are excited to add another post player to our Spartan Roster.  Caitlin comes from an excellent Perham Basketball Program and has been well coached.  Caitlin has a great knowledge of the game and is very eager to learn.  We are super excited to work with her and develop some more great post moves.

Brooke Finken – Melrose High School
We are thrilled to add a 3-Pt Shooter to our roster!  Brook was shooting 37% from beyond the arc the last 10 games of her high school season.  Brooke is a player with high character and is extremely coachable.  She was a team captain, all-conference honorable mention, and defensive MVP.

Ashley Dreger, Parkers Prairie High School
Ashley is another quick, athletic guard that should be an immediate impact player next season on both ends of the floor.  She came from a strong Parkers Prairie Program and was well coached. She was a team captain and received the Panther Award this past season.  She also excels in track and was a triple AAA nominee.

“I am extremely excited to add these six student-athletes to our Spartan Roster,” said coach Holleman.  “All of them are highly-skilled and competitive.  I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to coach these young ladies the next couple years!”
