The Fergus Falls girls’ track and field team began their post season in Detroit Lakes on Wednesday with Day 1 of the 8AA Section Meet. This was a prelim night that also hosted finals for state qualification in the 3200, high jump, long jump and discus. Ainsley Hansen qualified for the State Meet in the high jump, setting a new Section 8AA meet record of 5-6.
“The section brought a great field of competition tonight with five girls clearing 5-2,” said Fergus Falls Head coach Nike Welde. “Ainsley completed a perfectly clean record to take the section title and set the new meet record.”
The Otters had season best performances from Cassie Wellman (3200), Lauren Fazio (Discus), Mayah Fear (Long Jump), Izzie Neubauer (100 hurdles), Alexis Wellman (400), Olivia Swanson, Violet McConn and Sonja Lahti in the 800 and Rachel DeBrito and Becca Schindler in the 200.
