Fergus Falls, Perham and Hawley Finish 1-2-3 in South Sub-Section Girls Golf Tournament
The Fergus Falls girls’ golf team advanced to the Section 8AA Tournament with a first place finish in the South Sub-Section Meet on Wednesday at Headwater’s Golf Club in Park Rapids. The Otters shot a team score of 355 to win the event. Perham was second with a 368 and Hawley took third with a 371. The Yellowjackets and Nuggets will join the Otters in the Section Tournament.
Sophie Cook of Hawley earned medalist honors with a 79 and Ellia Soydara of Fergus Falls came in second with an 83. Ivy Tickel of the Nuggets and Mallory Belka of Perham tied for third place individually with rounds of 85 and Annika Jyrkas of the Otters was fifth with an 88.
Other Otter scores included a 90 from Ella Mayer, a 94 from Annie Mayer, a 98 from Lexi Metcalf and a 107 from Olivia Jurgens.
South Sub-Section individual qualifiers not on teams advancing are as follows:
Livinia Brasel (Barnesville, 100), Alayna Day (UNC, 101), Emma Wiseman (Frazee, 104), Lexi Bradal (DGF, 104), Alexis Mack (Frazee, 106) and Bella Snobl (Barnesville, 107).
Qualifying teams from the North are Park Rapids (365), East Grand Forks (404) and Roseau (410).
Anna Eckmann (75) and Madysen Maninga (79) of Park Rapids Area claimed the medalist and runner-up honors in the North Sub-Section. Karen Guise (94) of Red Lake and Kayla Thompson (94) of East Grand Forks tied for third, and fifth place went to Samantha Peterson (99) of Roseau.
North Sub-Section individual qualifiers not on teams advancing are as follows:
Karen Guise (Red Lake, 94), Kassandra Fontaine (Bagley, 100), Halle Nicholas (Crookston, 100), Grace Fisher(Crookston, 102), Ali Netland (Bagley, 105) and Emmie Hardwick (Warroad, 109).
The Section Tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday at Bemidji Town and Country Club.
