The Ashby baseball team slugged 3 home runs on Tuesday as they recorded a 17-1 victory over Breckenridge in the elimination round of the Section 6A playoffs.  The Arrows will now face Brandon-Evansville at 2:30pm Thursday in Deer Creek.  Win or lose they will play a second game on Thursday at a location to be determined.

The Arrows took advantage of a first inning error to take the lead on a two-run double by Evan Paulson and a RBI single by Brodie Ecker.

Torin Olson belted a solo home run leading off the second and Hunter Norby added a 3-run blast in the inning, giving Ashby a 7-0 lead.

Ashby increased their lead to 13-0 with six runs in the third inning, highlighted by a RBI single by Carter Spangler.  Paulson's 3-run roundtripper in the fourth put the exclamation point on the victory.

Carter Spangler pitched the Arrows to victory, allowing two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three batters.  Norby and Paulson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Dallen Ernst (1IP, 5H, 6R) took the loss for the Cowboys.

Ashby tallied 12 hits on the day.  They were led by Paulson with a double, a homer and seven runs batted in.

“First complete game we have had all year,” noted Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson.  “It was a very good effort from everyone today.”

Ashby takes a 17-2 record up against Brandon-Evansville at 2:30pm Thursday in Deer Creek.
